Senior Andrea Ward headlined day two of the MPSF Championships by setting a school record in the championships of the 500 freestyle (4.46.99). UCSB is currently in second place with 209 points heading into day three of the championship meet with UC Davis in first place tallying 218 points.
The Gauchos are within striking distance after day two of the championships thanks to strong swims by Ward and fellow senior Sophia Yamauchi. Yamauchi won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:00.23. Allie Knight and Katie Records placed third and fourth in the 200 yard IM with times of 2:01.07 and 2:01.25, respectively.
Heren Alanis placed second behind Ward in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.81.
In 1 meter diving, freshman Mariah Renteria placed sixth with a score of 228.90 in the championship finals. Sophomore Hannah Tomp placed third in the consolation finals with a score of 234.40.
