Nick May had 14 kills on Wednesday night and Santa Barbara City College recorded a season-high 14 blocks in a 3-1 win over Grossmont in El Cajon. The scores were 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 25-13.
“That was our best blocking of the season,” said coach Matt Jones. “We won the serving and passing battles. When we served well, we got them out of system. We did a good job of blocking them on the pins.”
Owen Yoshimoto had 11 kills and six blocks. His brother, Evan, also had 11 kills. Owen Yoshimoto only made one error and hit .476 for the match.
Drew Hogan had 38 assists and Carl Mendoza recorded 15 digs.
The Vaqueros host defending state champ Golden West on Friday at 6 p.m.
