Carpinteria suffered a 7-1 loss to Division 3 fourth-ranked Oaks Christian in the Tri-Valley League girls soccer finale on Wednesday.
“We really struggled in the first half and had a tough time with our basic touches,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said.
The goalkeeping of Lesly Zapata kept the score from getting out of hand in the first half. Oaks Christian led 3-0.
“We actually picked up the pace in the second half and did a much better job organizing in the back and our touches started to come back to us in the midfield. We had some good runs by Alleea Griffin that created a few chances up top as well,” said Bryant.
Carpinteria’s goal was scored by Kelsie Bryant.
“She saw their keeper off her line a bit, created a little space for herself and hit a shot from 35 yards that just lofted over the goalkeeper’s outstretched hands to make the score 4-1.
Carpinteria finishes the season 6-13-2 overall and 0-11-1 in the Tri Valley League.
