Laguna Blanca came up short against Thacher, falling 2-1 in a Condor League girls soccer match on Wednesday.
Thacher scored on a long shot just six minutes into the match. The Owls recovered and gave the Toads a battle in the midfield. They managed to score the equalizer just before halftime off a long throw-in by Phoebe Madsen. Sarah Moseley won the first ball and Siena Speirs won her challenge with the goalkeeper The ball squirted to the back post, where Maddie Bonser touched it in.
It was an even battle in the second half until Thacher capitalized on a low goal kick. The Toads collected the ball and hit a shot that goalkeeper Morgan Gainey got a hand on but was unable to keep it out of the net.
The Owls (2-7-2) created some chances late in the game through Phoebe Madsen’s throw-in, but they were unable to score the equalizer.
