Siena Speirs’ strike was not enough for Laguna Blanca’s girls soccer team on Saturday as the Owls fell to Dunn 2-1 in a Condor League game.
The Earwigs gained an early 1-0 lead before Speirs tied the game in the 30th minute. The two teams went back and forth for much of the second half until Dunn found the game-winner in the 70th minute with a shot from 25-yards out.
The Owls were playing without several starters and head coach Kevin Shertzer was pleased with the team performance given the circumstances.
“While those players that I deputized did an outstanding job, we found it difficult to find any rhythm in the game,” Shertzer reported. “Hats off to Dunn for their energy levels and desire from start to finish.”
