Jill Giannini scored in the 78th minute to lift Bihsop Diego’s girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over Nordhoff in the regular-season final on Thursday at Bishop.
Giannini also scored the first goal that tied the match at 1-1. Hanna Brand had an assist for the Cardinals, who will go into the CIF playoffs with a record of 12-5-2. They finished second in league at 6-2-2.
“It was such an exciting game today and really important to get a win going into playoffs,” Bishop coach Tessa Binkley said. “Every single player dug deep and gave it their all, and Kate (Giannini) was fearless in the goal.
