Cate put together a solid 80 minutes of soccer and defeated Thacher 3-1 in the Condor League girls soccer finale on Wednesday.
Ellen Lempres and Anna Graves scored first-half goals for the Rams and Jasmine Paz knocked in shot by Cydney Pierce that ricocheted off the post in the second half.
“The team saved the best game for last as we played our most complete and composed game of the season,” said coach Lisa Holmes.
Lempres’ goal came off a corner kick from Lucia Johnson.
“We’ve worked on a set play for the corner kick for a month and it finally paid off,” said Holmes.
Brenna Geiger fed Graves for the second goal in the 26th minute.
The second-half was a back and forth affair for most of the 40 minutes. Instead of playing a prevent defense, Cate pressed at the goal and was rewarded with our third goal 18 minutes into the second half.
Hannah Bowlin played most of the game in the goal with Tamsyn Walker spelling her at the end of each half. They combined for eight saves.
