With a CIF playoff berth at stake, the Cate girls basketball team put forth a solid performance and blew out Providence, 50-25, in a Condor League game on Saturday.
“The fact that they came out from the opening seconds playing with confidence, poise, and speed is a testament to how badly they want it,” Cate assistant Jay Dorion said of the girls. “Indeed, the girls turned in their most complete and dominating performance of the season, one that included excellent defensive intensity, rapid transitions from offense to defense and vice versa, and great offense that yielded excellent shots.”
Erika Noble scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds to pace Cate. Brittany Newsome posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and guard Elan Halpern ran the attack, finishing with six assists, six points, five rebounds, three steals and one block.
Erika Noble turned in another great effort scoring 12 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Also, she did an excellent job of containing Providence’s best guard.
Elan Halpern made great decisions with the ball all night long. She finished with 6 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block.
