Maddie Cleek hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer and Macey Frazer knocked down 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch to help Carpinteria defeat Malibu 38-34 in a Frontier League girls basketball game Tuesday night.
The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Warriors and improved their records to 8-14 overall and 3-8 in league.
Cleek’s trey broke a 31-31 tied with 3 1/2 minutes to go. She finished with a team-high 10 points. Frazer scored seven, all on free throws. Harmony Reed scored six points and grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds and Sierra Diaz added six points and five rebounds.
The Warriors got a big boost with the return of point guard Tori Kelley. She scored five points.
“This was a great victory,” Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer said. “We won on Senior Night for are lone senior Hannah Galsterer.”
Carpinteria completes the regular season on Thursday at Grace Brethren.
