Bishop Diego’s seventh-seeded girls basketball team cruised into the Division 5AA quarterfinals with a 54-28 victory over Silver Valley on Saturday.
The Cardinals will host second-seeded Pasadena Poly on Wednesday in a game that will be played at the SBCC Sports Pavilion.
The score was 11-11 after the first quarter, but the Cardinals outscored Silver Valley in each of the final three periods. Bishop Diego was deliberate getting into their half-court offense and controlling the pace.
“I didn’t want to get the tempo up and down,” said Cardinals head coach Jeff Burich.
Jordyn Lilly recorded her second playoff double-double of the week with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan Wallace tallied 17 points and took on the toughest defensive assignment, holding Silver Valley’s Tierrany McBride to 11 points.
Hannah Rogers collected 15 rebounds, five blocks and six points.
