Santa Barbara High’s boys and girls basketball teams received No. 1 seeds for CIF Playoffs on Sunday and will host first-round CIF basketball games this week.
The similarities don’t end there as both teams will host Firebaugh from Lynwood.
The Dons boys (22-2) will open on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Division 3A First Round. Firebaugh’s boys team is 16-8.
The Dons girls (21-5), in Division 3AA, host Firebaugh (5-17) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
San Marcos’ boys team will also be hosting a game on Wednesday in the Division 3AA tournament. The fifteenth-seeded Royals (14-9) take on South Pasadena (11-9).
Carpinteria’s boys team, which shared a Frontier League title this season, will welcome St. Joseph on Wednesday for a Division 4A game. The winner advances to a likely second-round matchup with the division’s top seed, Village Christian (21-4) of the Olympic League.

Second-round games for the boys are Friday and Saturday for the girls.
Bishop Diego’s boys team received the No. 4 seed in Division 5AA and will host Santa Rosa Academy on Wednesday in Santa Barbara.
The boys teams from Laguna Blanca and Providence are competing in the Division-6 tournament. The Condor-League champion Owls (12-6) are the fifth seed overall and play at home on Wednesday against San Fernando Valley Academy (10-4). Providence (10-9) travels to Shandon (10-8).
Bishop Diego’s girls team will also be at home for a first-round game on Thursday. The Cardinals (15-9) received the seventh-overall seed in Division 5AA and will face Downey’s Calvary Chapel in the Brickhouse.
Carpinteria’s girls team, which received an at-large bid in Division 4AA, will travel on Thursday to Camino Real League champion St. Paul.
Cate’s girls received a first-round bye on Thursday and travel to third-seeded Ribet Academy on Saturday.
Dos Pueblos’ girls basketball team, which finished fourth in the Channel League, received an at-large berth in Division 2A and will travel to seventh-seeded Cerritos for a first-round game on Saturday.
