The Vaqueros remained undefeated at 7-0, thanks to season highs in runs and hits (17). SBCC is averaging 9 runs a game and giving up 4.1.
Catcher Patrick O’Brien had a big day, going 4-6 with four RBIs. Brandon Evans drilled a three-run triple in the fourth inning and Matthew Gimenez went 3-4 with an RBI.
Santa Barbara’s ace left-hander Tyler Gilbert (3-0) earned the victory, giving up five runs in five innings but only two were earned. He allowed up five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
“We came out a little flat against the game and it let us know about it,” said Vaquero coach Jeff Walker. “We did a good job of showing resiliency.”
