Santa Barbara High came out on the short end of several close sets and dropped a 10-8 decision to Beverly Hills in its boys tennis home opener on Thursday.
“The match was close throughout but we just could not win the close sets,” Santa Barbara coach Greg Tebbe said. “This was a great learning experience for us and will help us to improve as a team.”
Morgan Hale led the Dons (1-1) with a 3-0 record at No. 1 singles. He dropped only two games against his Beverly Hills opponents.
The doubles teams of Jackson Powell-Logan Lender and Miles Hale-Harry Deboer accounted for the other five Dons’ points.
Santa Barbara’s next match will be at Calabasas on Wednesday.
