Carpinteria opened its boys tennis season with a 10-8 non-league victory over Ventura on Monday.
The Warriors’ No. 1 doubles team of Collin Nathanson and Bryant Taira dropped just one game in going 3-0 in sets.
In singles, No. 1 Ben Murray rebounded from a first set loss to win the next two.
“Most, if not all of our players were nervous before, and even during their opening sets today,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. “But they all did a great job of channeling those nerves into some great tennis.”
