Carpinteria finished the boys soccer season on a high note, beating Tri-Valley League champion Santa Paula, 1-0, on the road. It was Santa Paula’s only loss in league.
The winning goal came as a result of some nice combination work. Luis Garcia fed through ball to Benjie Garcia, who drew a defender and back-heeled the ball to an oncoming Francisco Arroyo for the finish.
Goalkeeper Jose Angeles made the goal stand up as he stopped five Santa Paula shots.
“Today’s victory was a full effort from every single player who left it all on the field,” Carpinteria coach Leo Quintero said. “We finished the season on a high note. Despite our record, we know we did the best we could each and every single game this season.”
The Warriors finish 7-9-3 overall and 2-5-3 in the TVL.
