Geoffrey Acheampong recorded two goals and two assists, and Chris Oh scored his first goal of the season on Saturday as Cate’s boys soccer team topped Thacher 6-0.
It was the third-straight shutout for Cate’s defense and fifth in the last six games. During that stretch, the offense has outscored the opponents 20-1.
Acheampong gave Cate its first lead in the 10th minute by creating for himself and finishing. Less than a minute later, the Rams were up 2-0 after Acheampong fed Shuta Kobayashi for another score.
Acheampong pushed the lead to 3-0 with his second unassisted goal of the game in the 17th minute. Oh scored in the 29th minute.
Leighton Brillo-Sonnino headed in a pass from Acheampong in the second half and Iman Fardghassemi connected with Christian Herman for Cate’s final goal.
Cate (7-2-3) is 3-0 in the Condor League standings after Saturday’s rivalry win. The Rams will travel to Dunn for their next game on Wednesday.
