EL CAJON – Westmont sophomore guard Esther Lee dropped in seven treys on nine attempts to lead #12 Westmont Women’s Basketball (12-4, 2-0 GSAC) to a 73-58 Golden State Athletic Conference win over San Diego Christian (9-6, 0-2). Lee scored 29 points; scoring 20 or more for the fourth game in a row.
The Warriors jumped out to an 8-0 lead on three-pointers by Lee and Celina Gougis (10 points, 5 rebounds) and a field goal by Lauren Sende (4 points, 4 rebounds). The Hawks responded with a 15-3 run to take a 15-11 lead, but back-to-back threes by Lee sparked a 15-1 run to put the Warriors up for good.
At halftime, the Warriors led 38-23. In the second half, San Diego Christian would get no closer than 12 points.
Kelsie Sampson recorded a double-double for the Warriors – her third of the season – scoring 23 points and pulling down 12 boards.
In other GSAC action, #1 Vanguard (13-0) pounded Biola 87-32. The Lions will make their way to Santa Barbara on Tuesday to take on the Warriors beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Master’s, ranked ninth, posted a win over the visiting Firestorm of Arizona Christian 77-45 and #20 Hope International won 73-63 over Concordia.
