The 2014 Rincon Classic has been green-lighted for this weekend it was announced on Wednesday.
A statement was posted on the event’s website:
“After careful consideration by our contest director and advisement team, backed by reports from Surfline and our local guru, John Lindsay at Diablo, we have opted to run the 2014 Rincon Classic during the first waiting weekend Saturday and Sunday January 18 & 19 7:00am-5:30 pm.
It is looking like Sunday will be EPIC and if we get blessed on Saturday it will be Classic squared. Weather and winds are favorable with swell building all weekend. Should be a great kick off to a second half of winter filled with surf. See you Saturday!”

The community surfing contest at Rincon point in Carpinteria starts on Saturday and crowns its champions in 12 divisions on Sunday.
