NEXT LEVEL WATCH: Nunnally signs with Hawks, going to London

 

Former UCSB basketball player James Nunnally was signed to a 10-day contract by the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, meaning Nunnally will be playing this week in London at the O2 Arena instead of in Bakersfield with his NBA D-League team.

Atlanta travels across the Atlantic for a game on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets.

Nunnally was averaging 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 19 games with the NBADL Bakersfield Jam this season while shooting almost 42 percent from 3-point range.

The 6’7″ wing player played four years at UCSB from 2008-09 to 2012, helping the Gauchos reach the NCAA Tournament twice.

Mario Hollands, UCSB Baseball – The former Gaucho pitcher has been invited by the Philadelphia Phillies to major league spring training as a non-roster invitee, the club announced last week.

Hollands, who left UCSB in 2010 after being drafted by the Phillies, held a 7-3 record and a 2.86 era in the minors last year.

Hollands pitched at UCSB for two seasons in 2008 and 2009, and was the Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year in ’08.

Maddie Trabucco, Santa Barbara High Water Polo – The Cal freshman started in the first game of her college career, recording three blocks in a 12-4 victory over Pacific.

Trabucco was named the Channel League’s MVP and an All-CIF goalie less than a year ago at Santa Barbara High.

Kai Miller, Santa Barbara High Soccer – As a junior at Boston University this year, Miller was named to the Patriot League First Team as a defender that contributed to 16 shutouts for the Terriers. Boston University won the Patriot League title and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Miller was named Patriot League Defender of the Week in September.
