UCSB winger Ismaila Jome was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman First Team, it was announced Wednesday.
It is another honor for Jome’s rapidly filling trophy cabinet.
So far this offseason, the Minnesota native has picked up Big West Freshman of the Year, All-Big West First Team, and All-Far West Region First Team honors while also being named to Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News All-Freshman teams.
The only Gaucho to play in every game this season, Jome recorded two goals and seven assists for 11 points in his freshman year. His assist total ranked third among all players in the conference, while UCSB went 6-1 in games where Jome cracked the scoresheet.
His contributions helped the team to a 12-6-3 overall record and an undefeated run through the Big West schedule, leading to a No. 10 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, second best in program history.
The team will hold its annual banquet to celebrate the 2013 season on Sunday, January 19 at 6 p.m. in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building’s Phil Womble Hall of Champions.
Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP by Jan. 14 by contacting Christina Baglas at [email protected] or (805) 893-5372.
