The Cate girls soccer team lost to a powerful Santa Clarita Christian team, 4-0, in a non-league match at Cate on Friday.
“This team is an offensive powerhouse, having scored more than 10 goals in three of their games this season,” Cate coach Lisa Holmes said. “Though we lost this game, it was a better matchup than the score reveals. We held them to a goal in the first half and were down 0-2 mid-way through the second half before fatigue took over.”
Cate got strong play from Makena Fetzer, Brenna Geiger, Sarah Martin, Ellen Lempres, and Maddie Becker. Freshmen Kenna Reyner and Ellie Vogel showed maturity and composure under pressure, said Holmes.
