Bishop Diego erupted for three goals in the second half and beat Santa Clara, 3-0, for its first Frontier League girls soccer win on Tuesday.
“I was very happy with their play today,” coach Tessa Binkley said of her Cardinals. “We moved the ball effectively as a team. We delivered some great through balls, getting us past their defense and giving us many opportunities and shots on goal.”
Veronica Morones scored off a long kick from the right side in the 49th minute to break the scoreless game. Jill Giannini followed with a break away from a free kick in the 54th minute and Judith Angulo scored last goal off a free kick in the 67th minute.
