Colleen Duley was a beneficiary of Jordyn Lilly’s press-breaking ability in Bishop Diego’s 47-27 Frontier League-opening girls basketball win at Malibu on Tuesday.
Duley scored a team-high 14 points, many of them coming after Lilly broke through Malibu’s full-court pressure
“Jordyn was able to break the press and Colleen got eight of her points on us being able to convert fast-break opportunities,” said Bishop coach Jeff Burich.
Lilly had six assists to go with her 12 points and eight rebounds.
Bishop also got a strong game from Morgan Wallace, a transfer from Carpinteria who just became eligible. She scored 11 points.
“She’s another ballhander and plays great defense,” Burich said. “Nine of her 11 points came off steals. She gives us more depth. She is someone with a lot of experience.
Hannah Rogers was a force inside, grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking four shots.
The Cardinals (8-4) are home Thursday against Grace Brethren.
