Tori Kelley scored 11 of her 14 points in the second half, and the Carpinteria defense held Grace Brethren scoreless in the fourth quarter to pull out a 28-20 win in a Frontier League girls basketball game on Tuesday.
“Nothing is going to come easy, but that’s two wins in a row,” Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer said.
The Warriors were down by three points going into the fourth quarter.
“We just tired them out,” Mercer said.
Harmony Reed and Monique Sanchez controlled the boards in the fourth quarter. Sanchez grabbed four of her eight rebounds in the final eight minutes. Reed led the team in rebounds with 13.
Macey Frazer played well, scoring four points and grabbing six rebounds.
“We missed a lot of shots, but our defense was good, Mercer said.
Carpinteria is 7-5 overall and 2-4 in league play. The Warriors play host to Cate in a non-league game on Thursday.
