Cate’s Mikaela Li hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation and the Rams outscored Carpinteria 7-0 in overtime to pull out a 35-28 nonleague girls basketball win on Thursday night.
Carpinteria was leading 28-25 when it missed a key shot in transition. Cate came down court and Li nailed her 3-pointer to tie the score.
The Warriors (7-10) missed on an outside shot, sending the game into overtime.
Elan Halpern was clutch for Cate in overtime, scoring three points. She finished the game with 10 points. Delaney Mayfield added for points in the extra period.
Brittany Newsome also scored 10 points for the Rams (8-4).
Carpinteria got 13 points from Hannah Galsterer, including three 3-pointers. Guard Tori Kelley had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Harmony Reed grabbed six rebounds.
