In its final tune-up before league, Carpinteria fell to CIF Division 3 third-ranked Channel Islands, 4-2, in a boys soccer match on Monday.
The Warriors fell behind 3-0 in the first half but scrambled back in the second half and pulled to within 3-2
Victor Saldana stole the ball from a Raiders defender to score the first goal for the Warriors in the 8th minute of the second half. In the 25th minute, Francisco Arroyo sent in a cross that freshly acquired sophomore defenseman Roberto “Tito” Alvarez put into the back of the net to make it 3-2.
Carpinteria (4-4) created some clear opportunities to score the equalizer but was unable to finish. Channel Islands scored again to seal the victory.
Carpinteria travels to Fillmore for its Tri-Valley League opener on Friday.
