Ventura capitalized on a communication breakdown in the back by San Marcos and scored the winning goal to beat the Royals 2-1 in a Channel League boys soccer game on Tuesday.
The Royals took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. Ventura scored the equalizer in the 50th minute and got the game-winner shortly thereafter.
The Royals defense took a hit when Sean Estabrooks had to leave the match with a cut on his forehead
Estabrooks and Jake Castanha, played solid matches, said San Marcos coach Rob Lauderdale.
The Royals fall to 0-3 in league. They play Santa Barbara on Saturday in the first annual Super Soccer Saturday at Peabody Stadium. The boys varsity game is at 3 p.m.
