Cate’s boys soccer team kept scoring and scoring before holding back in the second half on Saturday in a 6-0 decision over St. Bonaventure.
The Rams scored all six goals in the first 37 minutes of the game.
It all started less than a minute into the game when Joel Serugo crossed to Tyler Douglas, who gave Cate a 1-0 lead on a well-timed volley. Douglas scored again three minutes later on a penalty kick. Two more quick goals – one by Geoffrey Acheampong and one by Christian Herman – gave Cate a 4-0 lead before 20 minutes had elapsed.
Herman and Acheampong scored again before halftime, completing the 6-0 score. Serugo finished with two assists while Iman Fardghassem and Andrew Robbins also tallied assists.
“I was really pleased that we didn’t sit back after scoring two quick goals,” reported Rams head coach Peter Mack. “Leighton Brillo-Sonnino, Tyler Douglas, and Geoffrey Acheampong kept us on task in the midfield today and made sure that we kept playing the ‘right way.’ ”
Cate (5-2-3) plays next on Wednesday at Laguna Blanca.
