Cate completed a rugged pre-league schedule with a scoreless draw at Santa Ynez on Friday night
Goalkeeper Keller Mochel made a brilliant save on a one-on-one situation late in the game to record his second straight shutout for the Rams.
Cate thought it scored in the 15th minute, but officials waved off Christian Herman’s goal on an offsides call.
The game was physical, which resulted in several Cate players coming off the field injured and a Santa Ynez player getting a red card.
“I am really proud of the way our players handled themselves tonight,” Cate coach Peter Mack said. “They showed a lot of composure and class in a game that was highly charged. We fought hard and worked like crazy.”
Cate went 3-2-3 in the preseason, playing schools in higher divisons. The Rams open Condor League play Wednesday at home against Dunn.
