Spenser Wyatt and the Laguna Blanca boys basketball team got hot in the third quarter on Wednesday and raced past the Providence Patriots 51-46 in Merovick Gym.
The Owls outscored the Patriots 23-8 in the third quarter after trailing by 15 at halftime as Wyatt knocked down three 3-pointers in the period. With the game tied going into the fourth quarter, Wyatt scored five more points to lead the Owls to victory.
Wyatt finished with a team-high 15 points, 14 coming in the second half.
Providence shot well in the first half to gain a 30-15 lead at the break. The Patriots knocked down five 3-pointers in the first half but none in the second.
Ricky Beebe and Matthew Eaton led the Patriots with 14 points apiece. Caleb Jones and Erik Sheets added nine each.
