Laguna Blanca outscored Cate 13-4 in the second quarter and rolled to a 41-27 boys basketball win in a Condor League game on Saturday at Cate.
Spenser Wyatt scored 18 points to lead the Owls, who built a 25-15 lead at halftime and expanded it to 36-21 after three quarters. Wyatt continued to slip behind the Rams defense on fast break attempts, which he converted into easy transition layups.
The Owls got contributions from Michael Reyes, Stephen McCaffery and Andrew Vignolo.
“Laguna’s rebounding gave them the second chance shots, which enabled them to pull away with the lead,” said Cate coach Bryan Rodriguez.
Max Vasquez and Spencer Whiteman each scored 10 points for Cate (2-5, 1-1).
