Dos Pueblos got good play from its younger players in a 44-43 overtime loss against a taller Lakewood team in a non-league boys basketball game on Thursday at Sovine Gym.
Sophomore Jayson Williams hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime knotted at 37.
In the overtime, DP had tough time finishing its chances and fell to 4-9 on the season.
Despite the loss, DP coach Joe Zamora like what he saw from his underclassmen.
Freshman Marcellous Gossett and Anthony Trujillo did a good job against bigger players,” he said. “Sophomore Eli Wopat did a god job as well, when Matt sessler got into early foul trouble.”
Dayne Gardiner scored 20 points to lead the Chargers and Williams added 11.
The Chargers next play San Marcos on Wednesday in a Channel League game.
