Less than 24 hours after playing a Channel League game in Santa Barbara, Dos Pueblos’ boys basketball team fell to Mira Mesa more than two-hundred miles away in San Diego on Saturday.
The Chargers forced overtime on a game-tying shot by Jayson Williams before falling 55-51.
“I was pleased with the way we battled and executed down the stretch,” said Dos Pueblos head coach Joe Zamora. “If we cut down on turnovers and make a couple more layups it’s a winnable game for us.”
Dayne Gardiner led Dos Pueblos with 17 points and also earned praise from Zamora for his defensive effort. Erik Olson made a difference on both ends of the court as well.
Malic Jules scored a team-high 13 points for Mira Mesa.
Dos Pueblos (6-10, 2-3) gets back to league play at home on Wednesday against Buena.
