Cate used a big third quarter to pull away from Providence and win the Condor League boys basketball game 72-40 on Wednesday night.
The Rams outscored the Patriots 24-5 in the period after leading 28-26 at halftime.
Spencer Whiteman and Ryan Baird sparked the third quarter surge. Whiteman hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored nine of his 18 points in the quarter. Baird had six of his 16 points.
Sophomore Isaiah Washington played well at the defensive end for Cate (5-6, 3-1)and Kian O’Connor was solid on the boards. Nate Wilson made his presence known with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block.
Erik Sheets had 15 points to lead Providence.
