Grant Sexton scored 20 points, and Bishop Diego rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to edge St. Bonaventure, 54-53, in a Tri-Valley League boys basketball game on Friday night in Ventura.
Thomas Lash hit one of two free throws in the final seconds to give Bishop the lead. St. Bonaventure called timeout to set up a game-winning shot. When the Seraphs returned to inbound the ball, Peter Kwock stole the pass to secure the win for the Cardinals.
Sexton played a solid game for Bishop. Besides his scoring, he played good defense on one of St. Bonaventure’s best players.
The Cardinals also got a strong game off the bench from Marco Schneider. He contributed eight points in the win.
Bishop improves to 14-8 overall and 5-2 in the TVL.
