Bishop Diego picked up its game in the second half and pulled out a 61-52 win at Malibu on Wednesday in a Tri-Valley League boys basketball game.
Nick Busch led four Bishop players in double figures with 13 points. Thomas Lash added 11 points and Will Busch and Jason Price added 10 apiece.
A key to the Cardinals’ win was their defensive effort on Malibu’s 6-6 Justin Holmes. He finished with 11 points, with six coming in the fourth quarter. He averages 18 points a game.
Lash defended Holmes for most of the game.
Malibu stayed in the game by making seven 3-pointers.
“We kept our poise in the second half,” Bishop coach Dean Prophet said.
Bishop next travels to Oaks Christian on Friday for a battle of 4-0 teams in league. The Cardinals are 13-5 overall.
