Hancock built a 20-point halftime lead on Saturday and went on to beat SBCC 75-47 in the third-place game of the Bulldog Classic women’s basketball tournament in Santa Maria.
Justine Roland led the Bulldogs (8-3) with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Jasmine Mata scored nine for the Vaqueros (5-5) and Andrea Morales had eight.
Hancock jumped ahead 13-4 and 24-10 on the way to a 44-24 halftime edge. The Bulldogs outshot the Vaqueros 48.3 to 27 percent for the game. Hancock hit 15-18 from the free-throw line while Santa Barbara made just 57.7 percent (15-26).
SBCC committed 20 turnovers leading to 26 points.
The Vaqueros will meet Victor Valley in the opening round of the Antelope Valley Holiday Tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m.
