SBCC used a 20-3 first-half run on Thursday to pull away from Victor Valley en route to a 62-43 women’s basketball win in the opening round of the Antelope Valley Holiday Tournament in Lancaster.
Freshman forward Ashley Hurt scored a season-high 13 points in 15 minutes off the bench, hitting 3-of-5 on 3-pointers. Hurt, who also had four assists, notched 11 points during the 20-3 burst that gave the Vaqueros (6-5) a 32-16 lead. SBCC led 33-24 at halftime.
Elia Salazar scored 14 on 7-9 shooting and had a game-high nine rebounds. Mhiah Vickers added eight points and seven boards for the Vaqueros, who outshot the Rams 41 to 28.3 percent.
The Vaqueros will meet Moorpark in Friday’s first semifinal at 5 p.m. Moorpark beat Glendale 62-46 on Thursday.
