The Santa Barbara Coast Volleyball Academy boys 14s beat both Balboa and Seaside (San Diego) to capture the Silver Bracket of the two-day Holiday Classic in Orange County.
After five straight victories for Santa Barbara, powerhouse Club Baja defeated SBCVA, forcing the younger team into the silver bracket. Following a win over Palisades in Round 1 of the silver bracket, SBCVA faced a larger and certainly favored Balboa Volleyball Club. After trailing 18-12, SBCVA rallied to win the one-game match 27-25.
In the finals, SBCVA easily defeated Seaside to win gold and place seventh overall in the 42-team tournament. The only loss of the weekend was to the eventual tournament runner-up Baja who was defeated by Manhattan Beach Surf in a tight Gold bracket Final.
