Jalen Hall scored 13 of his 18 points in the final 6:46 on Saturday night as No. 11 Irvine Valley rallied past Victor Valley 84-78 to claim the championship of the 41st annual SBCC Classic men’s basketball tournament.
Hall, who was a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe, was named MVP of the eight-team tourney. Teammate Declan Daly (15 points, 9 rebounds) was an all-tournament choice, along with Kevin Lawson (15 points) of Victor Valley.
Shaquille Hunter added 11 points for the Lasers, who are the last unbeaten team in the state at 12-0. IVC forced 15 turnovers while making just four.
Kimani Lane topped the Rams (10-3) with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Justin Knowles and Max Barkeley scored 16 apiece and combined to hit 7-13 from 3-point land. Knowles converted 4-6 from downtown.
All-tourney choice Teyvon Myers scored 20 points to guide Hancock (7-4) to an 86-75 win over Cypress in the third-place game.
Jeffrey Dockett, another all-tournament pick, scored 17 for Pasadena and the Lancers shot 55 percent to capture the consolation title with a 73-68 victory over Bakersfield. Van Holloway was a perfect 5-5 on 3-pointers and led Bakersfield with 19 points.
