San Marcos rallied twice and earned a 2-2 tie at Oxnard in a non-league girls soccer match on Thursday.
Oxnard scored in the 8th minute, but the Royals got the equalizer in the 27th minute. Kaitlyn Saperstein scored the goal off an assist from Ranee Odell.
The Yellowjackets made it 2-1 in the 29th minute and held the lead through the remainder of the first half. San Marcos knotted the score in the 52nd minute when Natalie Widmer finished a pass from Olivia Jones.
“We kept knocking, trying to get that third goal but we couldn’t score,” San Marcos coach Macie Berlin said. “We played much better tonight than we did in our first match against Pacifica.”
The Royals are back in action Friday at Newbury Park.
