Laguna Blanca picked up its first girls soccer win with a 2-0 decision over Villanova on Thursday.
Bryn Jewett scored the first goal after a swift exchanged with Clara Madsen. Jewett beat the goalkeeper with a low shot into the corner.
Maddie Bonser hit the post in the 30th minute and the follow-up by Annabelle Sorensen was whistled offsides.
Bonser wouldn’t be denied in the second half as she finished a cross from Monica Criley.
“Overall, I was very pleased with the scoreline, but more importantly, how we played, said Laguna coach Kevin Shertzer. “We were calm when in possession and were able to move the ball effectively. We were dangerous in the attack, creating a number of good scoring opportunities and we were solid in defense.”
Laguna Blanca is 1-2-0.
