Giselle Estrada scored after making a 40-yard run, sparking the Carpinteria girls soccer team to a 3-0 win over Thacher on Friday.
Estrada’s terrific solo effort came in the fourth minute. Lesly Zapata scored in the 15th minute, heading in a ball that was bouncing around in front of the goal. Kelsie Bryant scored the third goal on a penalty kick after Thacher’s goalkeeper fouled Alexa Benitez.
Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant was pleased with the play of the defense.
“Our defense did a solid job again and really did not give the Toads many good looks on goal,” he said. “Erin Durflinger was very steady in the back for us.”
The Warriors improve to 4-0-1 on the season.
