Dos Pueblos and Arroyo Grande played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in a non-league girls soccer match at Scott O’Leary Stadium.
Stephanie Romero gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead, capping a good buildup down the right side. Weslea Greyson beat two Arroyo Grande defenders and hit a cross to Romero, who put the ball away.
“Greyson was causing a lot of problems for the Eagles down the right side,” DP coach Hugh Hollins said. “Prior to the goal, we had three good opportunities to put the game beyond the Eagles, but Sarah Doughty made some fine saves to keep her team in the game.”
The Chargers (3-0-2) outshot the Eagles 10-1 in the first half.
Arroyo Grande slowly gained momentum and after the break. Leading scorer Breanna Welch was seeing more of the ball and starting to causing the Chargers defense some problems. The combination of Emily Erwin and Emma Trumbull were able to deny the Eagles any real scoring opportunities until the 62nd minute of the game when Welch received a pass from Summer Soriana was able to turn and run at the defense before unleashing a 25-yard shot that beat goalkeeper Alex Camarillo.
