Dani Smith scored twice and Hannah Brisby had a goal and an assist for Santa Barbara High in a 5-1 non-league girls soccer win over Moorpark at Peabody Stadium on Thursday.

The Dons executed some nice combination work and continually pressured Moorpark to earn their third win of the young season (3-0-1).

Smith scored in front of the net by redirecting a pass from Hannah Ross in the eighth minute to put Santa Barbara ahead 1-0. Brisby finished a brilliant through pass from centerback Kylie Schmidt in the 22nd minute for a 2-0 lead.

Moorpark scored six minutes later, and the Dons went into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.

Smith was credited with her fifth goal of the season on an own goal in the 50th minute. Brisby served a terrific cross that Hannah Ross pounced on in the 63rd minute for a 4-1 lead, and senior Paige Lambert smashed away the final goal from outside the 18 yard box in the 72nd minute.

?We scored the final goal with only 10 players as our midfield wizard, Bailey Wolf, had to come out with a pulled muscle,? said Santa Barbara coach Jeff Johnson. ?This is our third game so far we have ended playing with 9-10 players.?

The Dons will get four key players back on Monday. They?ve been finishing commitments with their club teams.
