The sports season never ends for Carpinteria’s Duncan Gordon. In the fall, he suits up for the Warrior football team. Then he sheds the pads for a basketball uniform in the winter. And in the spring, it’s time to play baseball.
Gordon not only suits up for the three teams, he’s an impact player for them. He’s earned all-league honors in all the three sports.
Add in a 4.34 GPA, and it’s easy to see why Gordon was named Carpinteria’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
He was presented the award at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.
Gordon, a winner of the Phil Womble Ethics in Sports Award last year as a junior, is a three-year varsity player in all three sports. He has a goal of playing baseball in college.
Academically, science and math are his favorite subjects. He’d like to pursue a career in engineering or business. His top school choices are UCSD, Santa Clara, University of San Diego and Cal Poly.
And there’s more. Gordon volunteers as a coach with the Special Olympics in bowling and basketball.
