Amber Melgoza scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team jumped on Nordhoff early and coasted to a 74-43 win at the Lompoc Tournament on Friday.
The victory puts the Dons in Saturday’s championship game against Dos Pueblos at 4:30 p.m.
Jada Howard scored 11 points and Jocelyn Petalan and Alyssa Cosio each added nine for Santa Barbara, which led 48-14 at halftime. Point guard Dezzy Coleman dished out eight assists and scored five points and freshman Kimberly Gebhardt had four steals to go with her eight points.
“We played really well; it was encouraging,” said Santa Barbara coach Andrew Butcher.
