Erika Noble scored 17 points, and Cate held off a furious Faith Baptist comeback to score a 44-34 girls basketball win on Wednesday night.
Brittany Newsome keyed the Rams’ defensive effort as she contained Faith’s best post player.
“She was all over her opponent, making it hard for her to catch the ball, rebound, and score,” Cate assistant Jay Dorion said. Newsome also scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in her first game back with the team.
“What a relief and a thrill to have Brittany back on the court,” said Dorion.
Noble had 3 steals and 4 rebounds to go along with her 17 points.
Mikaela Li was clutch in the fourth quarter, scoring five of her seven points, and Delaney Mayfield grabbed 10 rebounds in the game.
Cate goes into its winter break with a 3-2 record.
