Jordyn Lilly recorded a double-double in Bishop Diego’s girls basketball season opener, leading the Cardinals to a 52-43 win over Santa Ynez on Tuesday.
Lilly scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and had four steals.
“She’s our previous post player turned point guard,” Bishop coach Jeff Burich said of Lilly, who scored 10 points in the first quarter.
The Cardinals also got a combined10 points from post players Colleen Duley and Hannah Roberts in the quarter.
“We did a good job keeping the lead,” Burich said. “Jordyn made almost every shot she took in the first half.”
Burich said the Cardinals are taller this year. Duley is 5-11, Rogers is 6-foot and Brooke Heller is also 6-foot.
“We rebound better and play better defense,” said Burich.
