Freshmen Tori Kelley and Harmony Reed combined for 25 points to lead the Carpinteria girls basketball team to a 51-30 win over Providence in the opening game of the Bishop Diego/Carpinteria Tournament on Tuesday
Kelley was the Warriors’ top scorer with 15 points, 12 coming in the first half. Reed recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Maddie Cleek scored seven points for the Warriors (2-0).
“It was a good team win,” Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer said. “We’re a super young team, so it’s great to get quality minutes for all the players.”
Abby Oppenhuizen scored nine points and Hannah Park had eight for Providence (1-1).
